Job Offer - Drupal Web Developer for the Hostmaster project

Established in Montreal in 2004, Koumbit is a non-profit registered company which promotes the use of free & open source software by community groups in Quebec, Canada and abroad, and creates a skills and resource pool for progressive-minded autonomous IT workers and design professionals. Koumbit is growing fast, and is always looking for qualified candidates, willing to join a team of passionate individuals at work in a very innovative environment.

We are currently seeking a Web developer, in order to further contribute to the Hostmaster project. Prior knowledge of the Drupal platform is a prerequisite. The candidate must also adhere to Koumbit's founding principles, and be a team player ready to get involved in non-technical tasks, with regards to the administration and decision-making of the collective.

Participatory economics is the cornerstone of our organization. All workers are paid the same hourly rate, and also have an equal say in the way profits are reinvested, since our decision-making process is based on consensus. We thus expect staff to be creative and dedicated members of the organization, NOT passive employees.

Required Skills

• A strong proficiency in PHP and MySQL programming.
• Experience in programming Drupal modules (or module patches). Please specify which one(s) in your resume or presentation letter.
• General knowledge of CMS implementation and configuration.
• The ability to meet deadlines and work autonomously.
• A commitment to act in accordance with our Founding Principles: Collective management, Education, Transparency, Copyleft (free software), Self-sufficiency, Solidarity, Equity and equality, Participatory economics.
• Strong communicational skills, in a context of frequent & direct communications with the clients.
• Availability to work on a full-time basis is an additional asset.
• Fluency in French is an additional asset.

Work Conditions

• 20 hours per week, at the very least. Work time could be extended to 35 hours, according to the candidate's availability.
• 3-month contract at the beginning, with possibility of renewal.
• Hourly rate: $22 CAD.
• Date of beginning: ASAP.
