Drupal 9 update and feature improvements
The Community Data Program (CDP) is a membership-based community development initiative open to any Canadian public, non-profit or community sector organization with a local service delivery or public policy mandate. The program facilitates access to the evidence needed to tell our stories and inform effective and responsive policy and program design and implementation. The CDP makes data accessible and useful for all members with training and capacity building resources. Through its vibrant network, the CDP facilitates and supports dialogue and the sharing of best practices in the use of community data. The CDP has emerged as a unique Canada-wide platform for generating information, convening and collaborating.
The organisation's needs:
- Update the content management system from Drupal 7 to Drupal 9, while maintaining the existing data, visual identity and interface.
- Replace the downloadable file access system (which relied on Ubercart, a module not supported in Drupal 9).
- Replace data visualisation systems provided via external tools by displays directly managed via Drupal.
Our proposal:
- Migrate content from Drupal 7 to Drupal 9.
- Migrate the downloadable file system from Ubercart to the 'Commerce' toolset in Drupal 9, using export-import tools as well as custom scripts.
- Set up a registration and file access control system using the Event Condition Action (ECA) module.
- Create a custom theme using the organisation's existing visual identity.
- Set up data visualisation using the 'Views' and 'Charts' modules in Drupal.
