The sysadmins here were doing some software upgrades the other day and asked me which versions of Tomcat and Apache Solr they should install on our shared Drupal hosting servers. The answer is a little complex, so I finally just drew them a diagram.
A little-known feature of Mailman means that once a message reaches a certain size, it is automatically moderated.
This feature can be modified in the general configuration menu, "under max_message_size".
You can check your emails online (instead of using a program like Thunderbird or Outlook) at http://webmail.koumbit.net. This interface uses a software called Roundcube.
If you've lost your password, you can reset it via the dashboard of your hosting account.
Like all our tools, Roundcube is free and open source software.
There are many possible sources of a problem with receiving emails.
The first thing to check is whether the source of the problem is on our end, or not. Here's how:
De-activate the options listed below, in the section called "Problems related to your workstation". Or better yet, temporarily deactivate your all services that connect to your inbox (shut down your computer, your cell phone, anti-spam and anti-virus detectors). Then, ask a friend to sent you an email.
If you want to install Wordpress, Drupal, or another content management system, you will need a database. The process of creating one is fortunately fairly simple.
Your hosting package allows you to create and manage mailing lists.
The AlternC interface includes a specialised tool called Mailman. This is accessible in the left-hand menu under Mailing lists.
Mailman has many features, including managing subscriptions, moderating messages, privacy options and archive maintenance.
Once a list has been created, you can access its dashboard by clicking on list admin to manage subscriptions, options etc.
The AlternC interface makes it easy to create ftp accounts and securely*1 transfer files between your computer and your web hosting account**2.
The option FTP Accounts appears in the AlternC menu (on the left).
Your email addresses are managed via the interface for your hosting account. This interface allows you to create a new address, modify your password, or set up mail forwarding.
In the left-hand menu, find the Email Addresses section.
