The pandemic is slowly ramping down in Montreal, and the city is slowly deconfining. However, deaths and new infections continue to affect the communities of which we are a part, and especially marginalized communities and working class neighbourhoods. The recent decisions by the government concerning the reopening of businesses and public spaces seem to us to be much more motivated by economic interests than concern for public health.

Dear Users, Allies and Colleagues,
Koumbit will be closed this Friday, May 1st for International Workers Day, commonly known as May Day. Our emergency on-call services will continue to be available. We will be open again at our usual hours on Monday, May 4th.
In order to maximize the effects of closing public spaces and to contribute to protecting all from the spread of the COVID-19 virus (which has been labeled a pandemic by WHO on March 11), we believe it is also the responsibility of Koumbit's team to avoid using public transit and physical contact for the next weeks.
Koumbit's office, including the telephone support line, will be closed Monday, March 9, 2020 to highlight International Women's Day on March 8. As always, our on-call team will reply to any emergencies. The office will be open again on the Tuesday, March 10.

At the beginning of January, some clients of Koumbit were victims of attacks aiming to silence them by making their website inaccessible, leading to some network performance issues. First, we want to highlight that this type of attack does not involve any data leak. Second, as Koumbit workers, we want to explain how these attacks could affect you, and what are our solutions to deal with them.

Le Réseau Québécois des femmes en environnement works to create and promote innovative actions, and provide a space for dialogue to improve the environment, health, and wellbeing. The organisation approached Koumbit to help them create a public members directory and a private members database in their existing Drupal 8 site.
